HEIRLOOMS, Exhibition Opening Night December 2021

A unique and exciting exhibition – a journey of artwork and inspiration behind every picture, a journey that celebrates life, hope, and choice.
As a work of art, “Heirlooms: Memory and Cherished Objects” preserves memories from loved ones who are now gone.
In this exhibition, you find pictures of valuable objects left behind, victims of terror, souvenirs from the lives of the loved ones who have died.
This was how it all started. While Jay Garfinkel was packing up the possessions of his son after he passed away at the age of 43, he began to think about memory and the desire to remember.
In order to fill the void in his own heart, Jay decided to photograph some of the objects dear to Elon’s heart.
As Jay had done for himself, he offered to do the same for others.
OneFamily helped him meet with families and collect heirlooms for 14 months.
From these objects, he made fine art photographs.
In visiting this unique exhibition, you are continuing the legacy of the families who have lost loved ones.

  • The traveling exhibition was first presented at the Jerusalem Theatre and inaugurated by Minister of Sports and Culture Chili Tropper in Dec 2021.
    Stay tuned for next exhibitis.

**Admission is free.

Every picture is a living witness, Washington Jewish week.
