Remembering Ezra Schwartz Through Basketball

Ezra Schwartz, American student spending his gap year in Israel, was murdered in a terror attack in 2015. To honor his memory the Orthodox Union’s JLIC program at Binghamton University started the Ezra Schwartz Memorial Basketball Tournament, hosting the fourth annual tournament this year.

The Tournament is a way to memorialize Ezra, who loved sports during his short life time. This year 25 teams participated raising money for OneFamily.

“Knowing that people are coming and they’re really here to have fun but also their here early on a Sunday morning to support a great cause,” said Hannah Sigel a Freshman in Binghamton University and a participant in the tournament. “I’m so honored to be a part of it. I’m so proud of the community that I’m part of.”

Thank you to the OU-JLIC and Hillel at Binghamton University for organizing this lovely and fitting memorial and raising money for OneFamily, and thank you to all the students who participated.
