Nurturing the Nurturers with Chanukah Treats

20171212_121123When cookbook writer Amy Stopnicki gives a cooking demonstration, she reveals more than how to prepare food that makes the mouth water. She also shows that food can feed the soul as much as the body.

A resident of Toronto, Canada, Amy came to the OneFamily Center to give her popular cooking demonstration. She taught 30 bereaved mothers how to make delicious chocolate donuts and healthy baked latkes – just in time to celebrate Chanukah.

“There is a unique connection between food and family,” she said. “Food has a nurturing quality to it. It’s so important that these women who are such nurturers are nurtured themselves.”

Amy, whose book, Kosher Taste, offers a sampling of healthy and nourishing recipes, said she plans to give more cooking demonstrations on behalf of OneFamily in Canada. “What these families have gone through is a tragedy unlike any other – and I want to support them in any way I can.”
