Laura Bortnick, a student at the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, made a strong impression in the short three and a half weeks she spent at OneFamily. She was not only diligent about her work but also extremely positive and eager to make a difference in the lives of terror victims.

All of the staff members who worked with Laura were impressed by her commitment, sensitivity, and good humor.

She served as an outstanding researcher, a careful writer and editor, and an all-around helper on too many tasks to mention individually. She even put her legal training to good use, reading through several contracts and legal documents and providing summaries.

When we were planning an itinerary for a visit to the US for one of our representatives, Laura immediately contacted family members who might be able to help. The result was a highly successful speaking engagement that helped OneFamily in numerous ways.

Laura was tremendously helpful to the office staff, but also got out “into the field” assisting the Youth Division on several outings and building relationships with the members of the division. She even wrote about one of the outings for our website.

Throughout her volunteer period, Laura showed a deep concern for the  challenges faced by victims of terror. She also made every effort to learn more about our programs, and especially to the ways we help victims.

We all hope that this is the start of a long-lasting relationship. We are grateful for how much she’s done for us already.
