Terrorism Mars Rosh Hashana Holiday in Jerusalem

Jerusalemites and visitors alike the Holy City alike were treated to the most violent Rosh Hashana holiday they had experienced in years.  As Jews were attempting to pray at the Western Wall (Kotel) whether at night or during the morning hours, above them on the Temple Mount Israeli police and security forces battled dozens of wild-eyed Arab terrorists who threw stones and Molotov cocktails at both Jewish visitors and the police alike.

As some Jews tried to make their way to the Western Wall Plaza via the Old City, dozens of other Arab residents of East Jerusalem indiscriminately spat, chased and kicked them.

On Sunday evening, residents of Jerusalem’s Armon Hanatziv  neighborhood  called local police to complain about Arab stone throwers from the adjacent village of Sur Baher, who were targeting both their homes and cars that were driving through the area.

However, by the time police had arrived, the stone throwers had succeeded in fatally injuring a local resident.

Jerusalem resident, Alexander Levlovich,64, Z’L, was killed on his way home from Rosh Hashana dinner on Sunday evening, when he lost control of his car in the Armon Hanetziv neighborhood after it was hit by several large stones hurled by Arab terrorists, smashed into a light pole and rolled down an embankment. He died of his injuries at a local hospital several hours later. He was buried on Wednesday in the Givat Shaul cemetery. Levlovich, Z’L, is survived by his two daughters and a son.

Levlovich’s son Nir, who lives in New York posted on his Facebook page, “”One rock has changed the course of my life. I’m in shock as I write this, but my father was murdered by rock throwers on his way home from a holiday meal. Dad, I love you.”

Residents of the neighborhood protested against the deteriorating situation in Jerusalem. Yehuda Ben Yosef who heads Armon Hanetziv’s community administration told Arutz 7, “We had a horrifying Rosh Hashanah .It’s hard to start the new year this way, our lives are like Russian roulette. We don’t know who the rock will hit next. We demand to increase the security forces, to add cameras to and increase the fences so that the seam line (between neighborhoods) will be secure. We have to stop this terror.”

The violence and mayhem extended outside of Jerusalem as well with Arab  terrorists tossing Molotov cocktails at homes in Har Adar during the holiday, while an IDF soldier was hospitalized with minor injuries after being hit in the face with stones tossed at an IDF patrol operating near the Palestinian city of Nablus (Shechem) in N. Samaria on Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday, police continued to sporadically battle stone-throwers on the Temple Mount. Arab terrorists also hurled stones at a civilian vehicle near the city of Beitar Illit. The driver was treated for minor injuries and shock by paramedics on the scene. And despite the presence of increased security along Road 443 Arab terrorists targeted another civilian vehicle with stones a few hours later, as it was traveling near Beit Horon, between Modiin and Jerusalem.

During the afternoon, a Border Policeman arrested a suspicious looking Arab man from Nablus (Shechem) who was holding a bag at the Tapuach Junction in Samaria which upon inspection, contained a knife. The man admitted that he was on a terrorist mission to stab policemen.

There were many other incidents in and around Jerusalem that were reported to local police but never appeared in the media.
