The White House invited Osher Twito and his family, as well as a delegation of 10 representatives from OneFamily to attend his public speach at Binyanei Hauma.

Osher was 8 years old when he and his brother were victim to a Kasaam rocket landing in Sderot. The two boys were critically injured, spent almost a year in the hospital, and Osher’s leg had to be amputated.

Four months after the attack, during the now-President’s campaign tour to Israel, Osher and the President met. It was an impressionable meeting for both of them – and Obama told Osher that he hoped to meet him again if elected.

President Obama referred to the meeting in his speech at the Jerusalem Convention Center on Thursday, “When I consider Israel’s security, I think about children like Osher Twito, who I met in Sderot – children the same age as my own daughters who went to bed at night fearful that a rocket would land in their bedroom simply because of who they are and where they live.”

He fulfilled his promise to meet again in a tearful reunion between President Obama, Osher Twito, mother Iris Twito, OneFamily Southern Regional Coordinator Pini Rabinovitz, and OneFamily Manager of Communications Rebecca Fuhrman.

When President Obama walked into the room, Iris ran towards him, embracing him in a hug – both were thanking each other for inspiring each other, for making the effort to be there, and commenting on Osher’s rehabilitation.

The visit to the Jerusalem Convention Center included a OneFamily delegation including American-Israeli victims of terror Ariyel Maresky-Applebaum, Iryah Mordechai, David and Sara Nachenberg, Naftali Moses, and Moshe Silinsky. As well as, OneFamily Board Member Laraine Harris, OneFamily Volunteer Jeffrey Worthington, and OneFamily Founders Marc and Michal Belzberg.
