Mazel Tov! Shvuel Schijeveschuurder Gets Engaged

Walking down the street towards the home of OneFamily founders Marc and Chantal Belzberg, you could hear joyous signing coming through their windows. Inside the Belzbergs were hosting an engagement party for Shvuel Schijveschuurder and Nechama, his bride-to-be.

Shvuel was one of eight children in a happy family before a 2001 suicide bombing at the Sbarro restaurant in Jerusalem murdered both his parents and three of his siblings.

The bombing literally ripped his family apart. Shvuel and his surviving siblings were crushed, but OneFamily was there for them. When the children were placed in different foster homes throughout the country, OneFamily made the necessary arrangements to ensure that they would all be re-united to live as one family again.

The Schijeveschuurders were one of the first families to receive assistance from OneFamily. Four years later when Shvuel proposed to Nechama and took the first step in building a family of his own, OneFamily was there to celebrate with him.

Inside the Belzberg’s home was a lavish assortment of food, decorations, and jubilant circles of men, women, and children dancing and singing.

Shvuel and his bride Nechama were beaming with happiness all night as they dined and danced. They were both so happy to be surrounded by friends, family, and people who care about them as they set out to build a home of their own.
